PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
APCFA is a 2day, hands-on practical exercise oriented program that provides participants with the knowledge and skill necessary to perform an in-depth analysis of a property-casualty company's solvency and operational performance. The program makes extensive use of spreadsheet models to accelerate the learning process, provide the opportunity to perform multivariate sensitivity analysis and eliminate the need to perform mindless number crunching exercises.

The seminar requires the use of a laptop computer for each pair of participants and uses the statutory statements of two companies - one for developing an understanding of the analytical process and the other as a case study to apply techniques learned. The following topics are discussed in detail:

  • Test loss and loss adjustment expense reserves for redundancy (deficiency) using various actuarial methodologies
  • Adjust asset and liability accounts to restate surplus
  • Perform SAP to GAAP adjustment
  • Forecast operational performance
  • Value company on GAAP basis
  • Calculate IRIS Ratios
